I'm new to music production. Is this class a good primer?
Definitely. Chelan starts with laying down the basics of music creation and goes all the way to releasing studio-quality music. This class is for all levels.
How does the contest work?
You'll be able to create your own track and submit it to Chelan who will give feedback on ten of his favorite tracks and repost his favorite one on Instagram. Check out the free preview called "Join The Contest" in the lesson plan above for more information. The next contest submission dates will be announced soon.
Can I interact with other classmates?
Absolutely. Everyone taking the class can comment on specific lessons and exchange ideas there.
Do I have to complete the course in a specific timeframe?
No. You can complete the class at your own pace. You decide when you start and when you finish.
Do I need to own any specific software or plugins?
Chelan uses Logic Pro and different plugins in the class. However, any DAW (GarageBand, Ableton Live, Pro Tools etc.) will work and have similar functionalities and plugins to Logic's. If you don't yet have a DAW installed, GarageBand is free for Macs, Logic Pro and Ableton offer a 90-day free trial, and LMMS is free to use cross-platform.
